Neal,Al and Dave’s Restoration Project
Al found out about the 1937 Model 80 pickup from his boss. After a little negotiating purchased it, borrowed a trailer a trailer and retrieved it from a farm in Northern Minnesota. The Diamond T sat on the trailer for almost a year while we finished restoring a 1930 Model A Ford Coupe. The project is being done in my garage in Minnetonka, Minnesota, a Western suburb of Minneapolis. We started last January (a very mild winter) by removing the homemade stake bed, hood, cowl and cab, etc. The engine is a Hercules and we found an engine rebuilder in St. Paul to rebuild it for us. After cleaning the chassis and painting it, the front and rear axels were next. The brake shoes and hubs were farmed out to a brake shop. We are now in the process of re-assembling the running gear. Al just finished installing new steel tubing brake lines last weekend. We hope to have a running chassis by summer.
I created a web page for our project at: http://diamond-t.freeservers.com/photo.html
called “Our Diamond T Project.”
