About Diamond T Classics

In 1905, Charles Tilt founded the Diamond T Motor Car Company in Chicago, a name that would become synonymous with exceptional truck design and manufacturing. For the first six years, the company handcrafted custom-built passenger cars in the back of a modest one-story garage. However, in 1911, Diamond T shifted its focus entirely to truck production, which would eventually lead to unimaginable success.

The late 1920s saw Charles Tilt’s desire for increased truck speed, and so he embarked on a journey to streamline the trucks. This involved repowering the vehicles with faster 6-cylinder engines and outfitting them with air-cushioned pneumatic tires. At the same time, he took the innovative step of marketing his trucks nationwide, and eventually worldwide, through a dealer-distributing organization. This bold move propelled the company’s growth, as evidenced by the production of over 50,000 heavy-duty military vehicles during World War II.

Diamond T was a pioneer in many areas of truck design, introducing features such as the fin and tube radiator, the adoption of 7-bearing 6-cylinder truck engines, 4-wheel hydraulic brakes, fully enclosed deluxe cabs, and hydraulic shock absorbers as standard equipment for heavy-duty trucks. In 1958, White Motor Corporation acquired Diamond T, and it continued to be a leader in truck design as a division of White.

Today, the legacy of the Diamond T classics lives on, and it is of utmost importance to maintain a fan club website dedicated to these iconic trucks. By having an online platform, we can preserve the rich history and innovative spirit that Charles Tilt and Diamond T Motor Car Company embodied. The fan club website allows enthusiasts and collectors to share their passion, stories, and knowledge about these remarkable vehicles, ensuring that the memory of Diamond T classics never fades away.

As a hosting company, we took over the ownership of this website when the previous owner could no longer afford to maintain it. Despite having no prior relationship to it, we invested our free time into this project because we believe in the importance of independent online communities. However, maintaining and expanding this website requires resources that need to be paid for.

This is where we humbly request your assistance. To keep the fan club website active and flourishing, we encourage users to donate via PayPal to sascha.endlicher@panomity.com. Your generous contributions will not only help us maintain the site but also enable us to grow our resources related to Diamond T. Additionally, your donations will allow us to organize activities that bring the Diamond T community closer together, fostering collaboration, learning, and the celebration of these remarkable trucks.

We understand that you have a choice when it comes to supporting causes that matter to you, and we want to express our gratitude for considering the Diamond T Classics Fan Club. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a genuine difference in keeping the legacy of Charles Tilt and his groundbreaking trucks alive.
